Questions
How does license activation work?
Pro and Team come as license-protected archives. Install the pack, then run/bastille-license refreshinside Pi orzrag license refresh if installed, and follow the bootstrap instructions.
Can I self-host?
Yes. The Bastille Console (Team and Enterprise) is self-hosted by design — a Node + PostgreSQL deployment that runs on your own infrastructure. Nothing is sent to us.
For retrieval, zrag is also local-first: embedding models, vector storage, and search run entirely on your local machine with zero external leaks.
Can I change tiers later?
Yes - move up or down as your needs change. Free stays free forever either way, so there's no risk in starting there.
Why is it called BASTILLE?
Revolutions move fast. AI is no different - every few months brings a new leap, a new capability nobody had before.
But a revolution only outruns you if your defenses are already hollow. On July 14, 1789, revolutionaries took the Bastille in a single day — not because it was unbreakable, but because it had quietly stopped being a real fortress at all. Thin garrison, symbolic authority, no real governance behind the walls.
We named the product after that fortress on purpose - as a warning, not a celebration. Bastille exists so your infrastructure, security, and governance aren't the hollow walls that fall the moment things move fast. It's the stronghold that lets you adopt what's new without losing control of what's already built: observability, security, and governance that hold - even mid-revolution.
Don't let your project be the one that gets stormed. Keep the fortress standing.
